ClassNK approves Toshiba SCiB batteries for marine use

Toshiba’s SCiB battery system won approval for use in marine vessels from the international ship classification society Nippon Kaiji Kyokai (ClassNK). Certified battery system components are exempt from tests ordinarily required so that ship owners may now build in batteries more quickly using the Toshiba system.

Electric container vessels connect Rotterdam and Tilburg

Two electric-powered container ships will start to commute between Rotterdam, Netherlands and Tilburg, Belgium from this autumn on. Both cargo vessels are owned by the recently established company Port-Liner and are going to be hired by logistics company GVT.

Forsee Power to boost up battery production capacity

The French battery specialist raises 55m euros to increase its production capacity tenfold. With this move, the company seeks to step up serial production of battery systems for buses, trucks, vessels and scooters in Europe as well as China.
