Opel announces sporty EV subsidiary
Opel has announced that the GSe acronym is to return as a sub-brand for particularly dynamic electrified models. As part of the GSe comeback, the three letters do not stand for “Grand Sport injection” as before, but for “Grand Sport electric”.

Opel/Vauxhall to release Insignia & Crossland as EV
Opel has confirmed that they will offer the successors to the Crossland SUV and Insignia sedan only as pure EVs. On the way to becoming a 100% EV brand, the cult Opel Manta will also return by mid-decade as an electric car.

Stellantis to invest €30 billion in e-mobility
Stellantis has presented its new electrification strategy. The multi-brand group wants to achieve 70 per cent of its sales in Europe and 40 per cent in the USA with “low emission vehicles” by 2030. In Europe, Opel is to become an electric brand by 2028.

Opel considers an electric Manta
Opel CEO Michael Lohscheller is thinking aloud about a possible return of the Manta as an electric car. The feedback on the Manta GSe ElektroMOD study presented as a rendering in March had been so “overwhelming” that Opel’s market research would certainly play through a potential series version.

Opel teases an electric Manta
Opel is electrifying its cult model Manta. The carmaker has provided a first preview of the Opel Manta GSe ElektroMOD, a purely electric reinterpretation of the 1970 original. It remains unclear whether the electric Manta will remain a one-off or actually go into production.
