India’s Ola to launch 10,000 electric rickshaws in a year

210,000 charge spots in Shanghai: The Chinese harbour metropolis is fast becoming China’s model EV city. 210,000 charging facilities are to stand by 2020 with both the authorities and businesses making an effort. Currently most new energy vehicle drivers charge at the workplace but wish to see more opportunities to rejuice in residential areas as well. There are about 30 charge point operators in Shanghai at the moment with fees often paid via mobile app/s.
Paris ePrix is to generate energy even after the heat of the race is over as the Formula E leaves behind a glycerine generator. It produces electricity from a diesel by-product clean enough to drink and can be used to power buildings or EV charging stations. It sure prove of use to Swiss pilot Sebastien Buemi, who scored yet another victory in this Formula E season last weekend.

A first for India: The city of Nagpur wants to electrify the entire cab fleet. A pilot will start later this week with 200 electric taxis provided by the municipal government. The vehicles have yet to be confirmed but will likely be either e20 Plus or the e-Verito.
Share a bike in Sacramento: 900 bicycles will become available in California’s capital with the first 50 having launched already through Social Bicycles. The company plans to make 900 available, 100 of them electric by November but is still seeking sponsors.

EU approves fast-charging conglomerate: BMW, Daimler, Ford and Volkswagen with its subsidiaries Audi and Porsche have got the EU Commission’s permission for the installation and operation of an ultra-quick charging network through a joint venture. As announced earlier, construction is to start still this year with initially 400 CCS fast-charging stations with up to 30 charge points each along Europe’s core highways.

30 EVs for all of Berlin’s airports: Airport operator FBB is to electrify its fleet through leasing 30 BMW i3 and invests also 240,000 euros in charging infrastructure. Within the next month, employees shall be able to choose between four car pool sites in Tegel, Schönefeld and at the future BER.
Electric bus trial in NYC: Ten electric buses will hit the roads of New York City from December on. The pilot programme shall provide information in order to specify requirements for a future business operation in New York’s metropolitan environment.
FTA raises 55m dollars to reduce emission: The State’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) provides 55m dollars for FY 2017 in order to motivate states, local authorities and indigenous tribes to purchase or lease low- or no-emission vehicles along with related equipment or facilities.
Test with 200 electric taxis: At 24th of May, the Indian city of Nagpur will kick-off a trial including 200 electric taxis provided by Mahindra. It’s the first project of such magnitude in India.
