Volta Zero: delivery e-truck using organic space materials
Volta Trucks, a startup with offices in Sweden and the UK, is working on the prototype of an all-electric 16-ton truck. The Volta Zero, due for launch later this year is to use hi-tech organic materials developed together with the European Space Agency, ESA.

More electric mail in Norway: The Norwegian postal service further expands its fleet of 900 electric vehicles, ordering another 240 Renault Kangoo Maxi Z.E. The electrification is part of the Posten Norge’s strategy targeting a 40 percent reduction in its CO2 emissions by 2020 (we reported).

Carrefour charges Beijing: In Beijing, French retailer Carrefour opened its biggest store in Asia. The location includes 15 charging stations for electric shuttle buses and another five for electric cars.

Essex gets H2 filling station: Company ITM Power now received permission for the construction of the hydrogen fuelling station. It will be located near the A13 road in Rainham, Essex, and is part of the EU-funded HyFive project. The station will open to the public in spring 2016.

New Supercharger Down Under: Tesla installed another one of its fast-charging stations in Gundagai, Australia. The strategic location completes the Sydney to Melbourne route along the Hume Highway, one of Australia’s major inter-city highways.

Toyota, Honda and Nissan have agreed on the details of their joint H2 infrastructure efforts in Japan. They will cover one third of the installation and service effort, although support is limited to 11 million yen (89,000 dollars) per station/year until 2020. They also agreed to support infrastructure companies.

Norwegian EV update: The 300 Renault Kangoo ZE recently acquired by Posten Norge come with a little twist. To ensure smooth mail delivery even in fierce winter conditions, the electric vans are equipped with a little extra heater powered by fossil fuels. Surely, it is the lesser of two evils.

Quiet growth: NRG EVgo has become the biggest fast-charging network over the last month. It now operates more than 350 DC charging stations in 19 markets all over the USA. As of May 2015, it has over four times more CHAdeMO and CCS fast chargers than any other public network and intends to expand into seven more markets before the end of the year.

Local car sharing: The my-e-car sharing service in the German town of Lörrach offers 40 Renault. The rental cars in South Baden are now backed up with 50 EV compact fast-charging stations provided by Swarco, which can also be used by other EV drivers.
