Ultium Cells to expand battery factory in Spring Hill
Ultium Cells, the battery cell joint venture between General Motors and LG Energy Solution, is investing further money in its second plant in Spring Hill in the US state of Tennessee even before the start of operations in order to expand production capacities from the previously planned 35 GWh to 50 GWh per year.

Production kicks off for the Cadillac Lyriq
Cadillac has started series production of its first electric model Lyriq in the USA at GM’s Spring Hill assembly plant in the state of Tennessee. Currently, however, the electric SUV can no longer be ordered, as new orders will not be accepted until 19 May.

GM invests $6.6 billion to boost production capacities
General Motors has announced investments of 6.6 billion US dollars – around 5.8 billion euros – in the expansion of production capacities for electric vehicles and battery cells in Michigan. An existing vehicle plant will be extensively modernised and converted to electric cars, and a third cell production facility will also be built in Michigan.

Cadillac launches pre-series production of the Lyriq
Cadillac has started pre-series production of its first electric model, the Lyriq, at GM’s Spring Hill assembly plant in the state of Tennessee. The first deliveries of the electric car are expected to take place “in a few months”.

GM & LG invest 2.3 million dollars in second battery plant
General Motors has now officially confirmed that its second battery cell plant in the US as part of its joint venture with LG Energy Solutions is already being built in Spring Hill, where GM already has a battery assembly plant at the Tennessee location.

GM plant in Spring Hill to go electric
General Motors is making its Spring Hill plant in the US state of Tennessee its third production facility for electric cars. The company plans to invest 2 billion US dollars in converting the plant. Among other models, the first electric Cadillac model Lyriq will be built in Spring Hill.
