BAIC wants to increase EV production: Beijing Electric Vehicle, BAIC’s subsidiary for electric cars, has announced an ambitious five-year plan. It wants to increase annual production to 800,000 EVs and PHEVs by 2020, shooting for yearly sales worth 60bn yuan (9.1bn dollars).
China fights misuse of subsidies: Some smaller companies are suspected to get their hands on government money by producing cheap vehicles, and selling them to their own car hiring companies, which only exist on paper. They may now face investigations and scrutiny.
Tesla eyes China: Elon Musk told Engadget that he is looking to find a partner for a joint venture in China by mid-2016, as well as a location for a production facility in the country.
