Scotland to ban new petrol and diesel cars in 2032: The Scottish government turns out to be even more ambitious than the British cabinet, which plans to ban sales of cars with combustion engines from 2040, as reported. Nicola Sturgeon, head of the Scottish government, has announced now that her country intends to reach this aim 8 years earlier. In order to prepare the shift towards zero-emission vehicles, the cabinet suggests to “massively expand” charging points and set up pilot projects to encourage uptake of EVs, e.g. to make the A9 Scotland’s first fully electric-enabled road.
