Scania’s first electric bus to take up service in Sweden
Following successful trials, Scania is ready to deploy its first electric bus. Three units of the all-electric Citywide will start their service in the Swedish town of Östersund from mid-March on a 15 kilometre route.
Scania had presented the Citywide at the Busworld last autumn and has since completed testing its first all-electric model.
The three electric buses ordered for Östersund in north Sweden will ply a 15-kilometre route with about 40 stops. The buses will run every 15 minutes, totalling a 100 journeys a day and will be charged for 10 minutes between runs.

The low floor model builds on Scania’s existing Citywide line only that their diesel engine has now been replaced with a zero emission drive.
