Tesla Model 3 under close scrutiny

Since Tesla has launched the Model 3, reverse engineering is becoming quite the norm. Automobile manufacturers across the planet have begun taking advantage of the first deliveries and are testing and taking apart the vehicle to gain insight into the famous brand.

What may come as a surprise to some though, is that the reverse engineering is not taking place in China, but chiefly in Europe and now in the United States. After Audi and Mercedes imported early Model X from the US, when the vehicle was still unavailable in Europe, they dismantled and analyzed the vehicles.

However, while reports of the trend are chiefly centered around Germany, now a US car manufacturer has been added to the list of companies testing the vehicle; The latest sighting of the still rare Model 3 took place at Ford’s testing campus, the Innovation Center. Ford is still somewhat lagging behind in the EV market, but has dedicated some resources and a research team to drive the development forward. What insights the automakers gained, has not been publicly disclosed.
