Electric carmaker BAIC and the mobility platform Didi Chuxing announced a joint venture called BAIC-Xiaoju New Energy Auto Technology Co. Ltd (JingJu). The two Chinese companies plan to expand their industrial networks.

XinhuaNet reported that the two Chinese companies intend to focus on new energy fleet operation and artificial intelligence solutions. Their venture, JingJu should develop connected car systems and tailor-made ride-hailing vehicles for sharing services. BAIC and Didi have been working on a strategic cooperation agreement since last March.

Didi has been reaching for partnership programs with automakers and fleet operators since 2016, and already launched an auto alliance with Volkswagen last May to expand its industrial network. The platform already has around 400, 000 electric vehicles registered with their services.
