Chevrolet launches Menlo EV sales in China

Chevrolet has started selling its first all-electric model on the Chinese market. The Menlo EV is a fully electric SUV with a NEDC range of up to 410 kilometers and is available at prices starting at 159,900 yuan (approx. 21,000 euros) after the government subsidy.

160 new fast-chargers for Ontario, Canada

Nikola Tre to build electric trucks at Iveco in Germany

Iveco-owner CNH Industrial and Nikola Motor will build the Nikola Tre in battery-electric and fuel cell version at the Iveco plant in Ulm, Germany. The first e-trucks to go into production from 2021 are the battery-electric 4×2 and 6×2 vehicles. The fuel cell version is planned for 2023.

New Zealand to approve Wisk to test VTOL with passengers

Electric aircraft company Wisk hopes to start the first trials carrying passengers in its VTOL in New Zealand as it signed a letter of intent with the government. The company is now pushing ahead with its production and commercialisation plans together with Boeing.

Start of Saft battery cell pilot production in France

France’s head of state Emmanuel Macron and Germany’s research minister Anja Karliczek have given the official go-ahead for a battery cell pilot production in a factory of the manufacturer Saft in Nersac, southwest France. The pilot plant is scheduled to go into operation in mid-2021.

German electric vehicle startup e.GO Mobile is planning a joint venture with a Chinese company. According to e.GO boss Günther Schuh, a Chinese version of the e.GO Life will be produced there. The contracts have apparently been signed, but not yet implemented.

Ballard receives large order to supply FCEV in China

European batteries: Opel, PSA & Saft build for 64 GWh

This week, the EU Commission gave the go-ahead for what is being called “the battery alliance” in seven European countries. Subsidies were approved for 32 GWh battery cell production with PSA and Saft at the Opel factory in Kaiserslautern, Germany and an identical plant in France, making a total production capacity of 64 GWh.

StreetScooter plans to enter US market in 2020

Deutsche Post/DHL will launch the StreetScooter Work L electric delivery van in two US cities from spring 2020. It is still unclear exactly which these are. According to CTO Ulrich Stuhec, StreetScooter’s EVs could be established on a large scale in the USA in 2022 or 2023.
