BMW launches electric scooter sharing in Barcelona

Together with the mobility service provider Cooltra in Barcelona, BMW Motorrad has launched a sharing offer with the BMW C evolution electric scooter. After an initial test phase, a station-based service is apparently to be offered in the city.

Initially, the BMW C evolution, which can be booked via the app, will be available on four SABA parking lots in Barcelona and at the airport as part of a pilot project. In a further step, the expansion of this Mobility Service to other vital areas of Barcelona is planned. However, these will also be station-based locations.

In addition to the Spanish mobility service provider Cooltra, BMW Motorrad is working with its leasing and fleet management subsidiary Alphabet Spain to provide the service. “Our priority in terms of electromobility is still the urban context,” says Timo Resch, Head of Sales and Marketing at BMW Motorrad. “It is here that sharing models offer enormous potential for new business segments and customers.”

BMW does not mention the conditions of the sharing offer or the exact size of the fleet. The vehicles are equipped with helmets as with other sharing offers. The C evolution electric scooter has been manufactured at the BMW motorcycle plant in Berlin-Spandau since 2014.
