Helbiz takes over MiMoto Smart Mobility for e-mopeds

The US-Italian sharing provider for e-bikes and e-kick-scooters Helbiz is expanding its range to include electric moped scooters. For this purpose, Helbiz has taken over the Italian moped company MiMoto Smart Mobility.

The MiMoto electric mopeds will be fully integrated into the Helbiz fleet and app. The acquisition means that Helbiz’s fleet in Italy will now include 7,000 electric kick-scooters, 3,000 e-bikes and 1,000 electric moped-scooters for over 1.2 million users.

Salvatore Palella, founder and CEO of Helbiz said: “Our riders will now be able to access our enhanced fleet of innovative vehicles, which accommodates a wide range of travel options from short trips to long distances. We’ll begin offering mopeds in Italy with plans to expand into every market we operate in.”

Helbiz, which was founded in 2017 and is headquartered in New York City, has said that the electric moped scooters will be available for launch in Milan, Turin, Genoa, Rapallo, Santa Margherita Ligure and Portofino. Expansion to Rome, Florence, Bari, Pescara and Naples is already planned. The scooters are also to be offered in more than 20 cities in Europe and the USA, where Helbiz is already active with its electric kick-scooters and e-bikes. These cities include Madrid, Belgrade and Miami.
