Ram presents their first electric pickup

Ram Truck, the US commercial vehicle subsidiary of the Stellantis Group, unveiled the design of the production version of its electric pickup truck ‘Ram 1500 REV’ during the Super Bowl.

Ram is also now accepting pre-orders for the 1500 REV, which is scheduled to hit the US market in 2024. Ram unveiled the electric pickup truck as a concept vehicle in January. For the moment, the brand continues to hold back on technical details.

The design remains similar to the internal combustion variant of the vehicle. Until now, it was assumed that the 1500 REV would be based on the fully electric platform STLA Frame for pickups with ladder frames. According to the report, this remains to be seen. If the 1500 REV is indeed more of an electric version of the combustion engine model, it will probably also be based on the latter’s platform.

Some of the body parts on the sides of the vehicle seem to come from the internal combustion 1500, and the shots of the interior shown in the Super Bowl commercial are also strongly reminiscent of the current version with a petrol engine.

“The Ram brand has redefined the pickup truck segment before and will once again with the all-new Ram 1500 REV,” said Mike Koval Jr., Ram brand CEO. “We believe in bringing the right range of powertrain solutions to our customers, and the Ram 1500 REV will be the first in a lineup of electrified solutions that will add to our current award-winning truck lineup. We are on an exciting electrification journey that will see Ram push past the competition in areas customers care about the most: range, payload, towing and charge time.”

Ram is now accepting initial reservations for a refundable fee of $100. Customers paying this $100 will also get access to the “Insider +” programme and are supposed to be able to get exclusive information about the vehicle. Perhaps also on which platform it is based.
