Hubject integrates MOBI.E’S Portuguese charging network into platform
Hubject is integrating the charging network of Portuguese operator MOBI.E into its eRoaming platform intercharge. This will allow European EV drivers to use the intercharge network to access the 5,800 chargers in MOBI.E’s network, as well as MOBI.E customers to charge abroad.
Currently, the publicly accessible MOBI.E network offers more than 5,800 charging points covering all 308 Portuguese municipalities, including the autonomous regions of Azores and Madeira. MOBI.E itself is an initiative by the Portuguese government to boost the deployment of EV charging infrastructure and increase the use of EVs within Portugal.
“Portugal was the pioneer of a fully interoperable market that now has more than 70 CPOs and 25 EMSP. The partnership with Hubject will increase the area in which you can find a completely interoperable market for Portuguese and European EV users,” says MOBI.E CEO Luis Barroso.
While the agreement is a major stepping stone for creating a truly pan-European charging network, especially considering the addition of Hungary and France in the last few months, Europe is not the only continent that Hubject is active on. In February, Hubject signed a roaming agreement with EvGateway for North America and Europe, meaning that in future, a potential global charging network could be in the plans. A similar agreement also already exists with Blink Charging, although this is connected to the Plug&Charge ecosystem
