Quantron takes over Eyes Group in Italy

The German company Quantron, which specialises in the electrification of vehicles, is expanding into Italy. Quantron is acquiring the subsidiary Eyes Group from the Italian company Friem and will establish its own subsidiary Quantron Italy.

According to Quantron, Friem is a “top global player in the production of power converters with a leading position in the green hydrogen supply chain”. Quantron Italy will be headquartered in Milan, where zero-emission vehicles for the last mile will be manufactured at launch. This transaction is the first step of a strategic partnership between Quantron and Friem, which foresees further collaborations in the future.

“With the new location in Italy we want to strengthen our presence in Southern Europe and expand our zero-emission footprint in a fast-growing market,” explains CEO Michael Perschke, adding: “Eyes has existing infrastructure as well as extensive expertise and knowledge of the local market, this is a perfect basis to grow successfully in the Italian market.”

The German company recently also presented a fuel cell truck designed specifically for the US market, with a range over 1,300 km. This was the first result of the truck manufacturers’ expansion to the US market in 2022. It also recently established a fuel cell truck cooperation with Norwegian Hydrogen, strengthening its foothold on the European market. Quantron also has its eyes on the Indian market, for which a cooperation with ETO Motors is planned.
