Massachusetts extend EV rebate programme
The US state of Massachusetts is updating its rebate programme to support greater EV adoption in the state. It now also includes used electric vehicles in some cases.
The so-called Massachusetts Offers Rebates for Electric Vehicles Programme (MOR-EV) provides rebates for light-, medium, and heavy-duty battery-electric vehicles of up to 3,500 dollars. With the programme’s expansion, that rebate also applies to used electric cars “for income-qualifying residents.” The latter can also apply for an additional 1,500 dollars rebate for new and used vehicles.
Moreover, participating dealers now offer rebates at the point of sale, and the state has increased rebates for certain light-duty pickup trucks.
“Residents will now be able to get their rebates the day they buy their car, instead of waiting for the funds to come in. And income-eligible folks will now be able to get additional rebates, including for used vehicles,” says Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey. Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll adds: “Far more residents will now be eligible for rebates, and we look forward to seeing the number of electric vehicles on the road across Massachusetts grow exponentially in the coming years.”
