With that price, Zeekr adds a mid-range vehicle for the mass market to its three premium models for the first time. The new electric saloon is 4.87 metres long and is available with 310 kW rear-wheel drive or 475 kW all-wheel drive. Two battery variants offer a range of up to 688 and 870 kilometres according to the Chinese standard. Zeekr has yet to provide information on the capacity of the batteries. The sprint from 0 to 100 kph takes 2.84 and 5.4 seconds, respectively.

All versions of the Zeekr 007 will have an 800-volt architecture. According to Car News China, the model will be based on a platform called PMA2+, developed by Geely and Volvo. The previous Zeekr models are based on the Group’s SEA platform. So far, only the Zeekr 001 FR in the Zeekr range has 800 volts. As an indication of what the PMA2+ is capable of, the manufacturer mentions a 15-minute charge for a range of 610 kilometres according to the Chinese test cycle at the presentation of the 007. Zeekr is not more precise at this point.

With dimensions of 4,865 x 1,900 x 1,450 mm and a wheelbase of 2,928 mm, the 007 competes in the mid-size saloon segment. Zeekr puts the boot volume at 462 litres. The rear body will be produced as a one-piece die-cast aluminium body – similar to the Zeekr 009. The process is said to make “the vehicle significantly stiffer and reduces the number of parts by 84 and nearly 820 welds compared to traditional manufacturing processes.”

Zeekr also emphasises the vehicle’s intelligent capabilities. The cockpit of the Zeekr 007 will be equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295 chip. Two built-in Nvidia Drive Orin chips also provide a total computing power of 508 tops. The saloon’s other hardware includes a LiDAR, 12 HD cameras, five millimetre-wave radars and 12 ultrasonic radars.

The pre-sale of the Zeekr 007 has already begun in China. Prices start at 229,900 yuan, the equivalent of around 29,000 euros. The market launch and start of deliveries are planned for January 2024. According to Zeekr, customers who pay 1,000 yuan to reserve the model before the official market launch will receive a discount of 5,000 yuan on their total payment, effectively reducing the model’s pre-sale price to 224,900 yuan.

According to the manufacturer, more than 10,000 orders had already been received three hours after the start of the current pre-sale.

Geely subsidiary Zeekr was founded in 2021 and currently offers three models in China: the Zeekr 001 shooting brake, the Zeekr 009 van and the Zeekr X premium SUV.

Update 08 December 2023

Geely’s electric car brand Zeekr has developed its own battery, which is to be used for the first time in the Zeekr 007 electric saloon. The battery is to be unveiled at the Zeekr Power Day on December 14. The manufacturer is not revealing any more in advance. According to Chinese media, series production of the Zeekr battery is to be carried out by a company called Jidian, which could be a subsidiary of Zeekr. However, this has not yet been confirmed.

Update 03 January 2024

The Zeekr 007 is now available in China at prices starting at 209,000 yuan (around 26,900 euros). This is 20,000 yuan less than the previously announced base price. So far, Zeekr says it has received more than 50,000 orders for the mid-size saloon EV.

Not a bad looking vehicle. Can’t wait to see the Volvo’s S60 or maybe even a V70 built on this.
