With 45 units of the new 8-metre Eltron model now being supplied by public transport operator AMT Genoa, 94 Rampini electric buses will be operating in the Italian city in future. There are also buses from Solaris and Irizar operating in the Italian city, while the bus depot charging system was provided by Siemens.

In May, Rampini won a tender organized by the Italian procurement agency Consip for the delivery of a total of up to 280 electric 8-metre buses. Only a few days ago, Consip awarded contracts for a further 500 electric buses to eight manufacturers.

The latest electric bus model delivered to AMT is the Rampini Eltron model, the only eight-metre electric ‘made in Italy’, supplied in a three-door version and capable of carrying up to 48 passengers. A 218 kW electric motor and a 280 kWh battery drive the buses, which the manufacturer mentions as the evolution of the E80 model.

“Our company has a long-standing collaboration with AMT Genoa, which began in 2014 and today has 49 Rampini e-buses in service, which will become more than 90 in the near future,” said CEO Caterina Rampini, “At the same time as the first two deliveries of electric buses, we have also converted two depots in Genoa, Mangini and Cornigliano, within two integrated projects to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of the system as a whole, which represent the boundary conditions necessary to achieve the zero-emission goal.”
