Not much has been revealed about the upcoming Creta EV, however, according to Autocar India, the platform will be derived from the ICE-powered Creta, albeit with certain modifications. The global debut of the Creta EV is expected for the second half of 2024, and a price announcement can be expected in early 2025.

The Creta EV will be powered by a single drive unit on the front axle producing about 103 kW of power and employ a 45kWh battery pack that will be supplied by LG Chem. The electric car will be a direct rival to the MG ZS EV and Maruti eVX.

Hyundai is not the only international manufacturer interested in the Indian market, as Tesla has been negotiating with the Indian government for some time over import tariffs as well as Volvo. Chinese manufacturer BYD also unsuccessfully attempted to build a factory there.
