Technotrans launches new thermal management system at Busworld
Technotrans is a specialist in battery temperature control and is based in Sassenberg, Germany. The battery thermal management systems (BTMS) developed by the manufacturer play an important role in the performance of electric vehicles. This is because batteries that are too cold or too warm may not last as long as batteries that are kept at a good temperature, and charging performance may also be reduced.
The BTMS has the core task of keeping the battery temperature in the right range. At Busworld in October, Technotrans is now presenting a system that addresses the increased requirements for the type approval of new vehicle models – for example, in the area of cybersecurity. The company describes the new zeta.trax as a flexible solution for battery-electric on-road and off-road applications, “already taking into account upcoming legal regulations.”
In addition to the 24-volt DC connection, the new BTMS also offers a direct connection to the high-voltage vehicle electrical system in the voltage range from 500 to 850 volts DC. “This allows vehicle manufacturers to dispense with additional components for voltage conversion, which leads to a reduction in system complexity, installation space requirements and overall costs,” says Technotrans. What’s more, the basic version of the new device is designed for a cooling capacity of 6 kW, but can be scaled to customer-specific requirements for higher capacities. According to the manufacturer, the new cooling system is also optionally available with a refrigerant with a low global warming potential (“low-GWP”).
In addition to mobile applications for vehicles, Technotrans will also be spotlighting stationary solutions in Brussels: the company will also be exhibiting cooling systems for the power electronics of various charging infrastructures at Busworld. The Technotrans solutions work with passive cooling without active compression cooling and are therefore designed to be particularly energy-efficient.
“With our new solution, we are taking BTMS to the next level and addressing the core challenges faced by vehicle manufacturers: regulatory compliance, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability,” said Jan Kühne, Business Development Manager at Technotrans. “The cybersecurity architecture provides the necessary security for new type approvals. At the same time, we have designed the system to significantly reduce integration effort and costs for our customers.”
Technotrans will be exhibiting at Busworld Europe 2025 in Hall 11 at Stand 1151C. The trade fair takes place from October 4 to 9 in Brussels.
