The all-electric eSprinter offers an official range of 206 miles (332 kilometres), though DHL reports that real-world testing has consistently exceeded 240 miles (386 kilometres). That makes the eSprinter the longest-range battery-electric vehicle currently in DHL’s US fleet.

The new vehicles will be delivered by the end of October 2025 and deployed across major U.S. metropolitan areas, including Chicago, Indianapolis, Pittsburgh, Elizabeth and Moonachie. To support the rollout, DHL has installed on-site charging infrastructure at its facilities in the deployment areas. The company says this ensures operational efficiency and maximises vehicle uptime while laying the foundation for further electrification of its US operations.

“Electrifying our fleet is one of the most visible and impactful ways we are moving toward a more sustainable future,” said Greg Hewitt, CEO of DHL Express U.S. “The Mercedes-Benz eSprinter brings an extended range and proven cargo capabilities that allow us to serve our customers with zero emissions while advancing our global goal of more sustainable logistics.”

Jee-Seop Kim, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz Vans North America, added: “The eSprinter represents the next generation of electric mobility for commercial fleets – combining range, cargo capacity and reliability in a way that meets the demands of modern logistics. We are proud to see our partnership with DHL Express expand into the U.S.”

More than 10,000 eSprinters are already in operation across DHL’s global fleet. With its extended range and high cargo capacity, the model is designed for both inner-city routes and longer delivery distances. The deployment forms part of DHL’s global Sustainability Roadmap, which targets the electrification of 66 per cent of its last-mile delivery vehicles by 2030.
