Hyundai launches XCIENT trucks to hit Europe via Germany

Hyundai announces the launch of the XCIENT fuel cell truck in Germany. Seven local logistics, manufacturing and retail companies will integrate 27 Hyundai hydrogen trucks into their fleets with funding through the German Federal Ministry for Digitalisation and Transport (BMDV).

Ebusco scores first e-bus contract in Spain

Ebusco has received an order from Barcelona, Spain, for 21 electric buses and charging equipment. Àrea Metropolitana de Barcelona (AMB) expects the Ebusco 2.2 vehicles to take up service in Q2/2023. This is the Dutch manufacturer’s first entry into the Southern European market.

Onto raises $60Mn to bring EV subscriptions to Europe

Onto has completed a Series C funding round, collecting about 59.1 million euros from investors. The fresh capital will help Onto grow the electric car fleet for subscribers and allow the service to expand beyond the British borders. Until now, Onto had been exclusive to the UK.

Taipeh to add 250 electric buses by end of 2023

In Taiwan, the Chung-Shin Bus Group will put 150 all-electric buses into operation in the capital Taipei by the end of this year, equipped with Danfoss Editron drives. Another 100 electric buses with Danfoss drives are scheduled to follow in 2023.

B-On finds US distributor for StreetScooter vans in CBS

B—ON (formerly Odin Automotive), which acquired Deutsche Post DHL subsidiary of commercial electric vehicles StreetScooter in January, has announced a new deal for North America. US-based Creative Bus Sales (CBS) will distribute B-ON’s vans in the United States, beginning with 500 LCEVs this winter.

BYD to deliver 15 electric buses to Madrid

BYD has just revealed another electric bus order from Spain. Empresa de Blas y Cia, the Spanish subsidiary of the German rail transport company Arriva, has ordered 15 electric low-floor buses from BYD, twelve of which are 12-metre and three 13-metre vehicles. They are to be used in Alcorcón, a suburb of Madrid, from 2023.

20 electric Solaris buses ordered for Kraków

In Poland, Solaris has received another electric bus order from Kraków. The public transport company MPK Kraków ordered 20 electric buses from the Polish manufacturer: seven articulated Urbino 18 Electric buses and 13 Urbino 12 Electric solo buses. The vehicles are to be delivered in one year.

Nobina orders another 19 Ebusco electric buses

Nordic public transport group Nobina has ordered more electric buses from Ebusco. The 19 Ebusco 3.0 12-metre electric buses on order are to be used by the Danish transport company Midtrafik in and around Horsens. Delivery is scheduled for mid-2023.

Walmart orders 4,500 electric transporters from Canoo

The Californian electric car start-up Canoo has announced a large order from Walmart. The US retail giant has signed a binding agreement with Canoo to buy 4,500 all-electric delivery vehicles, starting with the Lifestyle Delivery Vehicle (LDV), a cargo variant of the Canoo Lifestyle Vehicle.

ESWE Verkehrsgesellschaft in Wiesbaden has taken delivery of its 100th Mercedes-Benz eCitaro electric bus. The delivery from Daimler Buses is part of an order of 56 units placed three years ago, the order volume of which has since increased to 120 electric buses.

FliXbus launches first intercity e-bus service in Portugal

FlixBus has launched the first electric express bus in Portugal in partnership with the local operator Auto Viação Feirense. The route from Bragança Bus Terminal to Porto includes stops in Vila Real and Amarante. This is not the first time that Flixbus has used (or trialled) long-distance electric buses.

DB Schenker decarbonises distribution transport on Gotland

The logistics arm of Deutsche Bahn, DB Schenker, has taken over all deliveries on the Swedish island of Gotland. DB Schenker uses four fully electric Scania P25 distribution trucks and two PHEV trucks from the Swedish manufacturer. The Gotland region has set itself the goal of being fossil-free by 2040.
