BMW is expanding its plug-in hybrid range for the 3 Series and 5 Series by two additional models each from March. The 320e and 520e will be added to the saloon portfolio and Touring versions of both model series. In Germany, prices will range between 47,450 and 55,900 euros before subsidies.

BMW’s eDrive zone technology is being introduced in the UK to ensure that their plug-in hybrid cars stay clean in London’s Ultra Low Emissions Zones. The zones have been launched in Birmingham and London so far, and can be downloaded via an over-the-air software update.

Following the BMW 530e, the BMW 225xe Active Tourer is now also available with the latest battery cell technology upgrade. The new battery increases the electric range of the BMW 225xe Active Tourer by more than 25 per cent to up to 53 kilometres.

With immediate effect, BMW is installing more powerful battery cells in the plug-in hybrid version of the 5 Series. The aim is to increase the electric range to up to 57 kilometres and reduce CO2 emissions by 20 per cent.
