Hitachi completes major fleet charging trial Optimise Prime
In the UK, the fleet charging project Optimise Prime has come to an end. The trials began in July 2021, led by Hitachi Europe and UK Power Networks, with over 8,000 electric vehicles from Centrica, Uber and Royal Mail. The findings will help all parties to understand better what large-scale rollouts require.

The British energy supply company Centrica is pushing ahead with the electrification of its fleet. The conversion of the entire fleet to electric vehicles is to take place by 2025, five years earlier than previously planned.
Major UK fleet operators renew call for ICE ban by 2030
The UK’s four biggest fleet operators, BT and Openreach, Centrica, DPD UK and Royal Mail, today called on the British Government to commit to 100% electric vehicle sales by 2030. The demand comes trough the UK Electric Fleets Coalition, run by The Climate Group.
Volkswagen and British Gas: UK home charging package
Volkswagen has agreed to a three-year partnership with the British energy supplier Centrica to provide home charging solutions and services for VW’s electric car customers in the UK. The offers will be handled specifically by the Volkswagen subsidiary Elli and the Centrica brand British Gas.
British corporations plan switch to electric fleets
The major British energy companies Centrica and SSE have joined the Climate Group’s EV100 initiative together with facility service provider Mitie. This commits them to electrifying all their vehicle fleets by 2030. This involves a total of around 21,000 vehicles.
UK utility Centrica investing in EV charging software
British utility Centrica is pushing to enter new markets with no less than a total of 100 million dollars earmarked for investment. In a first financing move, the Israeli start-up Driivz that develops software for EV charging solutions has been selected.
