All new Genesis models to go fully electric by 2025

The Hyundai brand Genesis has presented new plans for the electrification of its entire vehicle range. According to these plans, all new models are to be powered purely by electricity from 2025, with the last combustion engine to be sold by 2030 at the latest.

Kia planning crossover with E-GMP platform

Kia plans a new seven-seater e-SUV and a crossover as its second and third electric model based on the E-GMP platform. While the former will be called EV7 or EV8 and aimed at the US market, the crossover will likely enter the European market as EV4.

Genesis presents the first E-GMP model

Hyundai’s luxury brand Genesis has released first photos of the exterior and interior design of the GV60. The Genesis GV60 is the brand’s second electric model after the Electrified G80 and the first based on the group’s E-GMP platform.

Hyundai & LG ES to build battery plant in Indonesia

Hyundai Motor and LG Energy Solution have reached an agreement with the government of Indonesia to build a battery cell factory in Karawang near the capital Jakarta. The factory is scheduled to start production in the first half of 2024 with an annual capacity of 10 GWh.

Hyundai confirms Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 7 launch

Hyundai has officially confirmed for the first time that the next electric vehicle models based on the E-GMP platform will be called Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 7, as recently leaked, and will be launched in 2022 and 2024 respectively. As suspected, the Ioniq 6 will be a mid-size sedan, the Ioniq 7 a large SUV.

Hyundai Ioniq 5 deliveries to launch soon

Hyundai will soon start deliveries of the Ioniq 5, which was presented in February, in Norway. Several hundred examples of the 800-volt electric vehicle of the special model ‘Project 45’ have already been shipped there.

Hyundai marks >200,000 interest expressions for Ioniq 5

Hyundai has reported a high level of interest in the 800-volt electric vehicle less than a week after the Ioniq 5 world premiere. Customers in Europe have submitted 236,000 expressions of interest for the special edition ‘Project 45’. Production is limited to 3,000 units, so it was sold out within a few hours.

Kia announces plans for 11 BEVs by 2025

As part of its now presented ‘Plan S’ strategy, Kia has announced eleven all-electric models up to the year 2025. By then, 25 per cent of sales will be accounted for by “environmentally friendly vehicles”. The first fully electric model is to be launched in 2021.
