Ford plans electric pickups Maverick and Ranger

After the F-150 Lightning, Ford is also planning electric variants for its smaller pickup trucks Maverick and Ranger – also in Europe. Ford has registered the model names “Maverick Lightning” and “Ranger Lightning” with the European Trademark Office.

PG&E & Ford testing vehicle-to-grid tech with F-150

In California, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) and Ford have announced a vehicle-to-grid (V2G) collaboration. In the pilot project, PG&E and Ford will test the F-150 Lightning and its Intelligent Backup Power bidirectional charging capabilities in powering customer’s homes in PG&E’s service area.

Ford raises F-150 Lightning production targets again

Ford has again increased the production target for the all-electric F-150 Lightning. At the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Dearborn, production of the electric vehicle is to be nearly doubled to 150,000 units annually in order to meet the high demand.

Ford has announced a significant increase in production for its all-electric Mustang Mach-E. By 2023, Ford wants to achieve an annual output of more than 200,000 units of the electric car. That would be three times as many as were produced in 2021.

Ford stops accepting F-150 reservations to begin with orders

Ford is no longer accepting reservations for the all-electric F-150 Lightning and will instead convert existing reservations into firm orders from January 2022. Most recently, Ford CEO Jim Farley had mentioned that the number of pre-orders was approaching the 200,000 mark.

Ford doubles F-150 Lightning production numbers

Ford is to have doubled production targets for the electric version of its F-150 pickup truck ahead of the market launch in spring 2022. According to a news report, the second-largest US carmaker is now aiming for annual production of more than 80,000 vehicles in 2024.

Ford has announced a number of investments to build out several US plants to produce electric models and components. The Van Dyke transmission plant will also build electric motors in future and in Kansas City, Ford will invest 100 million dollars in manufacturing capabilities for the e-transit.

Ford lays founding stone to produce the F-150

Ford has now officially laid the foundation stone for a new facility next to its truck plant in Dearborn, Michigan, to produce the electric version of the F-150 pickup truck from mid-2022. A hybrid version of the pickup truck will also be produced there.
