Reading tip: 300,000 miles were driven by Erick Belmer in his 2012 Chevy Volt, 105,000 of them all-electric. The GM employee commutes 110 miles each way and charges the range-extended EV at work and at home. So far, the Volt has been no trouble and the battery shows no remarkable ageing.

In the US, Nissan sold 1,070 Leaf this January. Not many, but EV sales are rarely high in the cold months and many Americans made use of incentives as the tax year ended. The Chevy Volt sold only 542 units last month obviously due to the new generation being in the starting blocks.

The Chevy Volt prove exceptional once more, as it is the only (!) model that has not had to be recalled by General Motors this year. The American company has had to admit safety issues with almost its entire range, forcing them to recall tens of millions of cars.

Sebastian Blanco has collected the top 5. Our favourite: Fox Business’ claim that marriages would be destroyed by fights over forgotten charging.
