Hyundai set to use BYD blade batteries in China
According to a Korean media report, Hyundai Motor is in talks with BYD about the supply of blade batteries for electric cars to be sold in China. BYD is said to have already set up a business unit responsible for cooperation with Hyundai and has offered to supply the batteries to Hyundai from 2022 onwards.
BYD plans fourth new energy vehicle factory in China
BYD is massively expanding their electric car production capacity in China. The manufacturer has now struck an agreement with the Changzhou city government to build a fourth car factory, which will have a capacity of 400,000 electric cars per year. Existing sites will ramp up as well.
BYD and Changan to jointly produce batteries
BYD entered a strategic cooperation agreement with Changan Automobile to jointly manufacture batteries for electric vehicles. Both companies will produce up to 10 GWh of batteries together and sell as well as recycle those through a wide reaching joint venture based in Chongqing.
Chinese Sokon group to erect battery plant
The Sokon Industry group owns Californian EV start-up SF Motors and plans now also to enter the market for batteries and other EV components. Part of the roadmap is also the installation of a 5.2 GWh battery plant.
