Mercedes increases plug-in car sales by almost 70%
Mercedes-Benz Passenger Cars delivered a total of 227,458 electric cars and plug-in hybrids in 2021, 69.3 per cent more than in the previous year. The majority was taken by plug-in hybrids, including Smart and Mercedes-Benz Vans, as a total of 99,301 BEVs were delivered.

Mercedes EQB to launch in two AWD variants

Daimler subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Cars sold around 59,000 electrified cars worldwide in Q1/2021, including more than 16,000 fully electric passenger cars. Shortly before the world premiere on 15 April 2021, Daimler has started battery production for its EV flagship Mercedes EQS. As part of the Untertürkheim site, the Hedelfingen plant section is responsible for battery system production for the EQS, followed by systems for the upcoming EQE model.

Daimler to produce lithium-ion cells near Stuttgart
A dispute over the electric campus at Mercedes seems to have been settled and Daimler has now announced that it will build the ‘Mercedes-Benz Drive Systems Campus’ in Stuttgart-Untertürkheim. The main plant is to be focussed on electric vehicles, which included the production of lithium-ion cells.
