Wärtsilä to develop fully-electric ferries for Norway
The Finnish technology group Wärtsilä is to develop two new purely electric ferries kitted out with the company’s drives. The ships will be built for the Norwegian operator Boreal Sjö by shipbuilder Holland Shipyards in the Netherlands.

Caverion now service partner for Ionity in five countries
Finnish company Caverion and the high power charging joint venture Ionity have entered into an international service partnership. Caverion is responsible for the maintenance and service of transformers at Ionity’s HPC stations for electric vehicles in Norway, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

MotoE: Niki Tuuli wins first electric motorbike race
Niki Tuuli from Finland has won the first race of the new MotoE World Cup at the Sachsenring in Germany. Tuuli won just ahead of Bradley Smith and Mike di Meglio. The next MotoE race will take place on August 11th in Spielberg, Austria.

Fortum capable of 80% recycling on industrial scale
Finnish energy supplier Fortum is entering the lithium-ion battery-recycling market. Using a process developed by Crisolteq of Finland, Fortum claims it can now recycle over 80 per cent of the materials in each battery on an industrial scale.
