Fraunhofer develops cleaner electrode dry coating process
The Fraunhofer Institute for Material and Beam Technology (IWS) has developed a dry coating process that eliminates the need for toxic solvents in the production of battery electrodes. This should make the production process noticeably more environmentally friendly.

SoLiS battery research project to develop solid-state battery concept
The research project “SoLiS – Development of Lithium-Sulphur Solid State Batteries in Multilayer Pouch Cells”, which started in July 2021 and is funded by the German government with almost 1.8 million euros, aims to transfer a promising battery concept from basic research to industrial application.

Fraunhofer takes a new look at electric refuse vehicle chassis
The UTILITAS project addresses a weak point of electric waste vehicles: since they have heavy batteries or fuel cells on board, they can usually transport less waste than conventional refuse collection vehicles. A special collection container is intended to remedy this.

Dresden researchers to improve battery cell electrodes
Researchers at the Dresden ExcellBattMat Center at the Fraunhofer IWS want to contribute key components to the large-scale “Research Production Battery Cell” project in Münster. The research object is electrodes made of silicon or lithium layers.
