Togg produces first electric test cars in Turkey
Turkey’s budding EV manufacturer Togg has taken a key step toward series production. Togg released the first test cars straight off the lines in the Gemlik industrial centre, southeast of Istanbul. CEO Gürcan Karakas told German media more about the ambitious schedule.
Freyr Board approves first battery cell factory
The Freyr Board has approved the Norwegian company to build the first battery cell factory in Rana, Norway, for production to start in the first half of 2024. Called Giga Arctic, the plant has been designed for an annual capacity of 29 GWh, according to the plan now approved.

Chinese equipment supplier LEAD announced a major deal with Volkswagen to deliver lithium battery manufacturing equipment. In a first step, LEAD and Volkswagen agreed to supply battery production equipment for a capacity of 20 GWh in Salzgitter but the Chinese company claims the cooperation would go further.

China’s battery giant CATL is looking to collect billions on the stock market. According to Bloomberg News, the company has kicked off a private placement that could raise about 45 billion yuan ($6.7Bn; €6.4Bn). The fresh capital is to finance expansion and R&D.
Soelect & Lotte plan battery material plant in the US
Battery startup Soelect, backed by General Motors, among others, and South Korean chemical company Lotte Chemical plan to invest more than $200 million in a joint venture to build a factory for battery materials for use in electric vehicles in the US by 2025.
