Daimler to deliver new e-buses for VAG Nuremberg
German public transport operator VAG Nuremberg has ordered 46 eCitaro from Mercedes-Benz. The 16 electric solo buses and 30 articulated models will gradually go into service this year, turning almost half of VAG’s fleet to zero-emission.

Funding granted for 1,200 low- and zero-emission buses in Germany
The German Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport (BMDV) has handed over funding certificates to 41 more public transport authorities. With these commitments, around 1,200 additional low- and zero-emission buses are to be procured and put into operation across the country.

MAN to manufacture e-truck batteries in Nuremberg
MAN Truck & Bus says it will begin mass-producing high-voltage batteries for electric trucks and buses at its Nuremberg site from 2025. The company is ready to invest €100 million over the next five years at a place once famous for combustion engine production.

Audi Charging Hub to open in Zurich this year
Audi has announced new locations for its fast-charging concept Charging Hub. Based on the findings of the pilot site in Nuremberg, a pilot in Zurich is next on the list. Salzburg and Berlin are slated to become the first regular locations, with more sites to follow in Germany.

Audi High Power Charging Hub now live in Nuremberg
Audi has inaugurated its first charging hub at the exhibition centre in Nuremberg, Germany. The carmaker’s concept relies on battery buffers to deliver ultra-rapid charging using a standard low-voltage connection and also offers an extended lounge area.

39 electric MAN buses for Nuremberg
Public transport operator VAG Nürnberg has ordered 39 e-buses from Germany’s MAN Truck & Bus, including 28 Lion’s City 18 E and eleven Lion’s City 12 E. For MAN, this is the largest electric bus order to date and the company’s first order ever to include articulated e-buses.

In the German Nuremberg, a sign advertising Europe’s first electric scooter parking garage was set up. Up to 12,000 electric kick scooters will be able to park and charge there, alongside a lounge for the drivers.

UPS converts 33 diesel vans to electric and hybrid
UPS is expanding its low emission fleet in Germany as part of the ZUKUNFT project funded by the government by retrofitting a further 33 diesel vehicles. 15 will be pure electric, and the remaining 18 will be plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Audi batteries storing energy in second-life setting
Audi has joined the ranks of carmakers finding new uses for old electric car batteries as energy storage. The station has been set up close to Nuremberg in the south of Germany. Capturing 1,000 kWh, the second-life installation is run by local utilities.
