JLR & Chery turn China factory into EV centre

Chery Jaguar Land Rover, the British company’s Chinese joint venture is planning to invest 7BN yen (over 900M euros) in the local development and production of electric cars. This will see them turn their existing facility in Changshu into a powerhouse for EV testing, R&D and manufacturing.

Wallbox launch China JV to make charging equipment

Wallbox Chargers of Spain set up a new joint venture with Chinese Changchun FAWSN. Together they aim to sell up to half a million Wallbox charging stations a year. A new factory in the manufacturing city of Suzhou, close to Shanghai, will cover the entire production.

Tesla plans for 7,000 Model 3 per week in November

Tesla is planning to reach a manufacturing rate of 1,000 vehicles per day for the Model 3, that is 7,000 EVs a week, by the end of this month. Additionally, the Californians plan to increase the delivery speed for their products.

VW may build 3 electric car models in North America

As Volkswagen is pushing for global electrification, their plant in Chattanooga has made it back onto the map. VW’s main man for e-mobility, Thomas Ulbrich, mentioned up to three EV models that could be built there. A final decision has yet to be made though.

Akasol making better batteries for eCitaro by Daimler

Germany’s Akasol has got to work on the next generation of power packs for Daimler’s eCitaro electric bus. The next-gen batteries shall stay the same size but deliver 330 kWh rather than the initial 243 kWh. Series production will begin in 2020.

e.GO Mobile opens factory in Aachen

The German startup e.GO has opened their first factory to produce their electric car e.Go Life in Aachen. Once all is set up, a target of 10,000 vehicles per year will be produced here, with deliveries scheduled to begin at the end of 2018.

Official: Tesla Model 3 production results in Q2

Data had been trickling out of Fremont with an occasional leak on Twitter but now it became apparent. Tesla has reached their Model 3 production target of 5,000 a week and is gearing up for 6,000 units next month. Also the overall results for Q2 are looking good.

Changan building large scale NEV factory

China’s Changan has begun works in Nanjing to build a production facility with an annual capacity for 240,000 new energy vehicles. Start of production is set for June 2020. By 2025, Changan want to build plug-in cars only.

VW & FAW to double electric car production facility

Volkswagen and its joint venture partner FAW are pressing to double their production facility in China. Their electric car production site in Foshan is currently churning out 300,000 EVs a year but it to grow into a “mega factory” with an annual capacity for over half a million units.

Posco to construct 2nd cathode factory in Korea

Korea’s largest steelmaker Posco will build a second cathode production facility in the country next year. It will produce 6,000 tons of cathode a year before they are to expand production capacity to 50,000 tons by 2022.
