No new combustion vehicles in Washington State by 2030
The US state of Washington has passed a bill banning the sale, purchase and registration of new petrol-powered vehicles of model year 2030 or later. If it becomes law, Washington will phase out internal combustion vehicles five years earlier than other states such as California.

Union Pacific Rail to test battery-electric locomotives
Union Pacific Railroad intends to purchase 20 battery-electric locomotives for testing in yard operations. The company expects the deal to exceed $100 million, representing the largest investment in battery-electric technology in the US. The partners are no stranger to the business either.

Skeleton to supply ultracapacitors to CAF
Skeleton Technologies has signed a contract with CAF Power & Automation, a manufacturer of power supply solutions for the railway industry. Skeleton will supply ultracapacitors that will be integrated into CAF’s OESS (On Board Energy Storage System) for trams.

CARB announces up to $205 million in EV grants
The California Air Resources Board (CARB) has announced up to $205 million in grants for projects to accelerate the adoption of clean freight technologies and improving air quality in the state. Eleven projects will receive $150 million, with another $55 million to be considered for further investment.
