Hitachi completes major fleet charging trial Optimise Prime
In the UK, the fleet charging project Optimise Prime has come to an end. The trials began in July 2021, led by Hitachi Europe and UK Power Networks, with over 8,000 electric vehicles from Centrica, Uber and Royal Mail. The findings will help all parties to understand better what large-scale rollouts require.

Virtual Power Plant by ev.energy utilises only BEVs
Innovate UK has granted funding to the software provider ev.energy to scale their first Virtual Power Plant (VPP) using only electric vehicles. The funding comes after the startup successfully demonstrated the concept by working with the British utility UK Power Networks.

Hidden kerbside EV charging by Trojan Energy in London
Startup company Trojan Energy is trialling electric vehicle chargers that are only visible when a car is charging. The Subsurface Technology for Electric Pathways (STEP) project will see 200 kerbside chargers installed across the London boroughs of Brent and Camden.

V2G electric bus project takes off in London
A large vehicle-to-grid project with electric buses has now been launched at a bus depot in North London. The Bus2Grid project is testing V2G systems with an initial 28 electric double-decker buses with which more than 1 MW of energy can be fed back into the grid.

UPS installs 2nd life charging system in London
UPS has launched the ‘Smart Electric Urban Logistics’ (SEUL) initiative in London together with UK Power Networks and Cross River Partnership. Its new technology enables them to recharge an entire fleet of electric vehicles at the same time, thanks to stationery battery units.

1000 V2G charge points in GB – Nissan and UK government
