VinFast & Gotion to build battery factory in Vietnam
In Vietnam, construction has begun on the country’s first production facility for LFP battery cells. This is being built as part of a joint venture between VinES Energy Solutions, a subsidiary of the Vietnamese conglomerate Vingroup, and the Chinese battery manufacturer Gotion High-Tech.
VinGroup & Li-Cycle launch recycling partnership
The Canadian recycling company Li-Cycle and Vines Energy Solutions (VinES), a battery company of Vingroup, have agreed on a global recycling partnership. Under the agreement, both companies will develop recycling solutions for VinES and VinFast, the electric car manufacturer that is also part of Vingroup.
VinFast presents five BEVs at the CES
VinFast presented five electric car models at the CES in Las Vegas. The electric cars are called VF 5, VF 6, VF 7, VF 8 and VF 9. However, not all models are new, in some cases, only the name has been updated.
Vingroup launches battery plant construction in Vietnam
Vietnam’s conglomerate Vingroup has officially started construction of a battery factory for its electric vehicle offshoot VinFast in the Vietnamese province of Ha Tinh, as previously leaked. The factory is expected to have an initial capacity of 100,000 battery packs per year.
VinGroup aims to hit the US stock market in 2022
Vietnam’s conglomerate Vingroup plans to list its electric car division VinFast on the US stock exchange in the second half of 2022, raising at least three billion dollars. The company also aims to sell three times as many electric cars next year as previously planned.
Michael Lohscheller to take over at Vinfast
Michael Lohscheller is to become CEO of the Vietnamese car manufacturer VINFAST LLC. After he departs from Stellantis set at the end of August, the acting Opel CEO will be charged with expanding VinFast’s operations, and presence around the globe as the company announced.
Star Charge & VinBus to electrify Vietnam’s bus system
Star Charge has signed a contract with VinBus to cooperate in the establishment of the first electric bus service system in Vietnam. According to the agreement, Star Charge will provide advanced smart charging technology for VinBus, who will field the fleet.
LG Chem to supply batteries to Vietnam
LG Chem has agreed to deliver batteries for electric scooters produced by the Vietnamese startup VinFast. The latter is part of the Vingroup that also makes smartphones and electric buses which will also use LG Chem batteries.
