“Our goal is to have a quarter of our fleet electric in Europe by the end of the year,” said Olivier Reppert, CEO of Share Now. Currently, only 3,200 of the 15,240 cars are fully electric. That is just over 20 per cent of the vehicles in the European Share Now fleet.

In addition to Madrid (850), Amsterdam (350) and Stuttgart (500), the most recent location, Paris (400), has been fully committed to electric mobility since January 2019. By the summer, almost 800 additional Smart EQs are planned for the European fleets.

In addition to the four fully electric locations mentioned above, there are eleven partially electric locations in Europe. These are the locations where the BMW i3 will put into action: Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Brussels, Helsinki, Copenhagen, Lisbon, London, Milan, Rhineland and Vienna. Here, too, the share of BMW i3 in the total fleet continues to increase. In London, 130 BMW i3s were floated in February. The total number is now 180. In Hamburg, too, the number of BMW i3s deployed is to be significantly increased in the course of the year. At the end of 2017, the electric fleet in Hamburg was expanded in a first step from 70 to 200 electric vehicles. The first successes of the increased electric share are already evident in Germany’s famous port city: The number of electric journeys has risen by an average of 17 per cent per month after the first flotation.

Share Now’s electric vehicles are rented around 12,000 times per day in Europe. The strong demand for electric car sharing would also be reflected in the almost 29 million kilometres that customers covered last year with electric cars. Throughout Europe, customers have covered a total of around 121 million purely electric kilometres. Currently, every fifth trip with a Share Now vehicle in Europe is electric.

Update 11.04.2019: Share Now is opening its 31st European location in Budapest. Starting on the 29th of April, 240 BMW and Mini cars will be available for rental in the Hungarian capital, including 40 fully electric BMW i3. This is in line with their intention to increase the number of electric cars at European locations to 4,000 during the course of the year.
