Daimler in talks to sell French Hambach plant

Daimler plans to sell its plant in Hambach, France, where they build the Smart electric vehicles. In 2018, Daimler had announced that the factory would also make a compact model of the electric car brand EQ, presumably the EQB.

Mercedes & Geely joint venture for Smart ready to go

The China joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely around Smart announced at the end of March last year has now been formally established with all relevant final approvals from Chinese authorities. The first electric Smart cars made in China are to be launched on the market in 2022.

Hubject & Daimler enable app-less charging

Daimler and Hubject have successfully completed the pilot test phase for their project Plug&Charge with charging station operator Ebee Smart Technologies. The new Smart EQ is also Daimlers first car that already is capable of using the system.

Daimler starting electric cup with Smarts

Daimler has announced the Smart EQ ForTwo E-Cup for this year. The race will feature a small series using 16 electric Smart cars in Italy. The races will commence on the 8th and 9th of July with a double race on a street track in Turin.
