Samsung SDI has appointed a new head of its electric car battery business, Park Zin, as part of a series of management reshuffles. He replaces Ahn Tae-hyuk, who was previously responsible for this area.

Several positions have been reassigned, such as Chief Financial Officer as well as the heads of the medium and large batteries (including those for electric cars) and small batteries departments.

Kim Jong-sung comes from Samsung Electronics and will act as CFO. The ex-EV battery chief Ahn is expected to remain with the company as consultants. Young-Hyun Jun remains as CEO.

The reshuffle follows recalls of PHEV models from Ford and BMW due to fire hazards, which are equipped with Samsung SDI batteries.
