Micro Mobility Systems starts up final assembly line for Microlino

After several delays, the start of series production of the Microlino electric light vehicle is apparently imminent. According to Micro Mobility Systems, the assembly line in Turin, Italy, has been put into operation. Currently, the last pre-series vehicles are still being produced.

The hall of the final assembly line in Turin is 3,000 square metres in size and completely covered with solar panels. According to the company, up to 100 people will be employed there. After an initial ramp-up phase, a Microlino is expected to roll off the production line every 20 minutes. More than 80 per cent of the individual parts of the Microlino are manufactured in Europe, most of them in Italy, Micro Mobility Systems added.

Only earlier this year, Micro Mobility Systems had postponed the start of production of its light vehicle until early March 2022. The company cited persistent bottlenecks in the global supply chain as the reason. Delivery of the first customer vehicles was announced for April or May in Switzerland and soon after in Germany. Micro Mobility Systems did not provide details on the reasons for the renewed delays in its latest announcement.

Micro Mobility Systems presented the series version of the Microlino 2.0 last year. The electric light vehicle will be available in the three editions Urban, Dolce and Competizione and with three battery versions for a range of 95, 175 and 230 kilometres, respectively.
