SVOLT kicks off production in Suining

The Chinese battery manufacturer SVOLT has started production at its new factory in Suining in Sichuan province. The first expansion stage of the factory, which has now started operation, is designed for an annual capacity of 20 GWh.

The company announced the factory in Suining in February 2021 – together with another plant in Huzhou in the Chinese province of Zhejiang. However, there is no information yet on the commissioning of this factory, which is also expected to have an annual capacity of 20 GWh.

Production started in Suining this week, as SVOLT announced on its WeChat account. The plant is also to be a model factory for the company “in terms of intelligence, technology and low-carbon operation”. Among other things, this means that the third generation of SVOLT’s high-speed stacking technology will be used in production there for the first time. The system is said to need only 125 milliseconds for a stacking process. The second generation required 450 milliseconds.

Further expansion of the plant is already underway: the second phase, which is currently under construction, is to be commissioned as early as mid-2023. This is to comprise a further 9 GWh, which will bring the plant to 29 GWh of battery cells per year.
