Nio starts deliveries of its EL7 SUV in Europe

Chinese electric car manufacturer Nio has started deliveries of its EL7 SUV model in Europe. The first cars went to customers in the Netherlands. Deliveries of the EL7 in Germany, Denmark, Sweden and Norway will follow soon.

The first SUV was handed over on January 31, as Nio’s managing director for the Netherlands communicated over the company’s own app. Nio is therefore right on schedule. At its European market launch in October in Berlin, the carmaker promised to begin deliveries of the EL7 by the end of January and the ET5 by the end of March. The third model destined for Europe – the ET7 – is already being delivered to European customers since October last year.

Nio is firmly trying to stay on schedule. When configuring an EL7 on the Dutch configurator, it says the vehicle can be delivered in February. On the German configurator, delivery is promised in March.

A trademark dispute with Audi preceded the start of deliveries of the EL7. As a result, Nio changed the model designation of the electric SUV from ES7 to EL7 at the last minute. The Chinese manufacturer also changed its strategy with regard to the pricing system. It had originally planned to offer its vehicle only by subscription. Since November, the vehicles can also be purchased.

The Nio EL7 is a five-seater electric SUV positioned between the ES6 and ES8. First announced in February 2022, the electric vehicle is based on the manufacturer’s new NT2.0 platform. Nio’s established SUV models – the ES8, ES6 and the SUV coupe EC6 are still based on the first generation of the platform.
