The electric buses equipped with Solaris High Energy batteries can be charged both via cable and via pantograph. The 9-metre bus is designed for 59 passengers, the 12-metre bus for 74 passengers. An efficient air conditioning system with a heat pump ensures comfortable temperatures in the bus, Solaris writes.

Solaris delivered 20 low-emission hybrid buses to Galați in 2021 and 12-meter trolleybuses in the years before that. The manufacturer claims to be “one of the main suppliers of public transport vehicles to Romania,” having delivered “more than 600 vehicles to this market, 60% of which are zero-emission electric buses and trolleybuses.”

The country has been investing in zero-emission buses. According to figures from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association (ACEA), 363 electric buses were newly registered in Romania in 2023 – up 131.2 per cent from 2022 (157 units). However, the number of hybrid electric and diesel buses also grew by more than 100 per cent year-over-year.
