Tesla has produced sufficient batteries for 1,000 Cybertrucks

Tesla produced enough 4680 battery cells at its factory in Texas last week to equip 1,000 Cybertrucks. However, it is unclear whether this production rate is constant and what this means for the overall increase in cell manufacturing.

At the end of 2022, Tesla had already announced a production rate of 868,000 4680-format cells within one week – enough for around 1,000 vehicles. At the time, however, it was unclear whether these cells were only produced on the Kato pilot line near the car factory in Fremont, California, or also at the factory in Texas. It is also not confirmed whether production of the Cybertruck is now up and running.

According to Electrek, “sometimes several hundred Cybertrucks” have been spotted leaving the factory in Austin, which is an indicator that production of the pickup has ramped up. However, Tesla does not provide exact figures.

In the current tweet, it is clear that production was only counted in Texas.

As the Cybertruck has a 123 kWh battery pack in the currently delivered versions, Tesla has therefore produced at least 123 MWh of battery cells. An additional battery has also been announced for the pickup, which will be placed on the loading area and is intended to increase the range to over 500 miles. However, there are no further details on this.

At the end of January 2024, Tesla declared that the production ramp-up for the Cybertruck was not currently jeopardised by the supply of large cells.
