Peugeot introduces eight-year warranty for electric cars
Electric cars may be cheaper to maintain than their comparable conventional ICE models, but long-term reliability is still something they still need to prove to build the trust of customers at large. In addition to educating customers about their technicality, offering extended warranties on them can help instil confidence in customers. With that thought in mind, Peugeot has extended its Allure Care programme across its passenger EV lineup.
It is a common practice for automakers to offer an 8-year/160,000 km( 8-year/100,000 miles) warranty on EVs’ high-voltage battery that is responsible for supplying energy to their motor(s). The Allure Care programme provides protection for the electric motor, transmission, charger, and main electrical and mechanical components as well, giving customers more peace of mind. Peugeot claims it’s the first European automaker to offer such a comprehensive warranty scheme.
First offered on the Peugeot E-3008 compact SUV, the Allure Care programme is now available on the E-208 small hatchback, the E-2008 small SUV, the E-308 compact hatchback, and the E-308 SW compact station wagon. When the Peugeot E-5008 and Peugeot E-408 go on sale later in 2024, they will also be eligible for this long-term/long-mileage comprehensive warranty.
Peugeot has already started offering the Allure Care programme in nine EU markets, namely Austria, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, and Spain. It says this warranty scheme activates automatically after each service is performed for two years or 25,000 km. In the UK, Peugeot plans to roll it out across the passenger electric car lineup on 4 July. There, the Allure Care programme is activated automatically and free of charge after each service is performed for two years or 16,000 miles.
