Xing Mobility to show immersion-cooled Cell-to-Chassis battery
Xing Mobility has announced that from 14 October, they will showcase a comprehensive range of immersion-cooled battery solutions in the French capital. Immersion cooling involves fully submerging the battery cells in coolant. Typically, cooling plates or channels only touch one or two sides of a battery cell, limiting heat transfer to a smaller surface area than immersion cooling. This method is designed to dissipate heat, prevent thermal runaway in individual cells, and stop fire spread throughout the entire battery pack.
In July 2022, Xing introduced its Immersio XM25 battery, specifically designed for heavy-duty commercial vehicles. About a year later, the Taiwanese company launched a cell-to-pack battery solution called “Immersio CTP,” which is also suitable for electric cars. According to the manufacturer, Immersio is a flexible pack concept that can be adapted to “the specific requirements of various vehicle types, such as saloons, SUVs, sports cars, commercial vehicles, and more.”
Now, the company is moving forward with the prototype of a cell-to-chassis solution but has yet to disclose technical details about this battery system. The only figure provided is a 35 per cent increase in energy density, though no specific reference battery is mentioned for comparison. Also on display at Xing’s stand in the Paris exhibition halls will be a mobile charging station called Hummingbird, developed in collaboration with Norwegian company Nordic Booster. This charger is powered by Xing’s XM25 system, which will also be in the spotlight, along with the Immercio XE 50 energy storage system.
“Our innovations are addressing the urgent demand for safer, more efficient battery solutions across diverse markets, from commercial vehicles to passenger cars and energy storage systems,” said Royce YC Hong, Founder and CEO of Xing Mobility. “With the grand opening of our Paradigm Factory in September, we have strengthened our position in the automotive supply chain. Immersio battery solutions, known for their extreme fire safety, are poised to redefine the EV industry by mitigating thermal runaway risks, even in the harshest conditions. We envision a future where safety and sustainability go hand in hand.”
