Peugeot opens UK orders for new 308 and 308 SW

Peugeot has opened UK orders for the refreshed 308 and 308 SW, featuring upgraded all-electric variants with improved range and updated styling. The new E-308 and E-308 SW deliver up to 279 and 275 miles of range, respectively.

The updated all-electric variants of the 308 and 308 SW, which were first unveiled in August, feature a 156 hp motor with 270 Nm of torque and a 58.4 kWh battery (55.4 kWh usable), offering up to 279 miles of range on the hatchback and 275 miles on the SW. That represents an increase of around 25 miles compared to the previous model.

Although the battery offers slightly more energy capacity (presumably due to improved cells), it still uses the same architecture. This means that the 400-volt technology remains unchanged, which is particularly noticeable during fast charging. According to Peugeot, the battery can be ‘charged from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in approximately 32 minutes’ at a 100 kW charging station. The French manufacturer does not mention the industry standard comparison value of ten to 80 per cent, but it will again be noticeably higher than the no longer quite competitive 32 minutes.

The BEVs also come with an 11 kW onboard charger. AC charging from 20 to 80 per cent with 11 kW thus takes a little over three and a half hours.

Both all-electric models qualify for the Electric Car Grant, providing a £1,500 saving on the list price. The E-308 starts at £30,995, and the E-308 SW from £32,195.

Peugeot’s Electric Promise supports all new E-308 and E-308 SW buyers with an 8-year or 100,000-mile vehicle and battery warranty, as well as access to over 700,000 public charge points via the Free2Move Charge Pass, in partnership with Octopus Electroverse.

Peugeot also modified the bodywork as part of the facelift. The revamped E-308 now features the French manufacturer’s new brand identity, which was introduced with the E-3008 and E-5008 models based on the more modern STLA Medium platform. The previously visible radiator grille and the striking LED daytime running lights extending into the bumper have been removed, replaced by a new, more dynamically designed grille and the brand’s distinctive three-claw light signature. And from the GT trim level upwards, the E-308 also features an illuminated brand logo at the front for the first time.

Beyond the electric version, the new 308 range includes a plug-in hybrid delivering 195 hp and a 53-mile electric range (WLTP), a 145 hp 48V hybrid with six-speed automatic transmission, and from 2026, a 1.5-litre BlueHDi diesel option.
