Schaeffler expands repair solutions for e-axles
With its new repair solutions, Schaeffler is helping workshops meet the technical demands of electric mobility with confidence. These solutions cover a wide range of common battery-electric vehicle platforms and bundle all components required for repair into a single kit, complete with a clearly structured repair guide. The repair kits are currently available for the Hyundai Ioniq AE-EV, Volkswagen e-Golf VII and e-Up, BMW i3, and Nissan Leaf.
“The repair of electric drive systems is becoming a key success factor in the aftermarket,” said Stephan Niese, Director Global Product Management E-Mobility at Schaeffler Vehicle Lifetime Solutions. “We make these repairs manageable and economical for workshops. With the right components, tools, and training, workshops can professionally and safely repair e-axles.”
Workshops stand to benefit from a broad selection of vehicle-specific repair systems, as well as a cost-effective and sustainable alternative to replacing entire electric axle drives. For professional repairs of electric drive units, all E-Axle RepSystem-M procedures can be performed using the E-Axle Repair Tool developed by Schaeffler. This specialist tool enables the safe and contact-free disassembly and assembly of the rotor and stator, ensuring precise component positioning. This is particularly important to prevent abrasion, which could otherwise lead to motor damage.
In parallel, Schaeffler Vehicle Lifetime Solutions is expanding its range of digital training courses and repair information under the REPXPERT service brand. The goal is to equip workshops with the technological expertise required for electromobility, enabling them to repair modern electric drive systems safely, efficiently, and independently.

Schaeffler’s ‘E-Axle RepSystem-G’ and ‘E-Axle RepSystem-M’ are now also available for the EMR3 axle in Stellantis vehicles such as the Opel Mokka and Peugeot 208e. The EMR3 axle in question comes from Vitesco, which was acquired by Schaeffler in 2024. The kits enable workshops to repair the transmission unit and electric motor of the EMR3 axle. Schaeffler manager Stephan Niese explained: “The EMR3 has been used in Stellantis vehicles since 2019, and these vehicles are now mostly out of warranty and increasingly appearing in independent workshops. With our solutions, these workshops can now repair defective e-axles instead of replacing them completely.”
The E-Axle PEU Kit, on the other hand, is completely new. PEU stands for Power Electronics Unit: the power electronics responsible for converting and controlling the electrical energy. This allows, for example, PEU supply lines damaged by martens to be repaired so that they can be put back into operation.
